Easter Celebrations

Easter is early this year and the clocks change on Easter weekend as well, so we get the chance to enjoy the benefits of longer and lighter days while we are celebrating good friends and family.

Taking a walk

What better way to start the long weekend than with a walk. Dress for the weather and step out knowing that by getting enough exercise you can increase  bacteria in the gut  which in turn can help reduce inflammation.  And if you have celebrated well the good news is that it also helps with peristalsis – the movement of your food through the gut.

Cooking a Feast

Take the time to celebrate with some tasty dishes. Dr Joan Ransley has created lots of gut-friendly recipes that are simple to cook and perfect for sharing.  Here are a few of our favourites:

Starting out

Start off the celebration with a Sweet Potato and Orange Soup – simple to make, tasty and nutritious. A quick and simple way to get more vegetables into your meal.

The Main event

For the main event why not try Chicken Schnitzel with Fennel, Lettuce, Green Lentils & Radish Salad.

Or Buckwheat Noodles with a Creamy Green Pea & Kale Sauce – this recipe contains nine different plant foods including black pepper, olive oil and buckwheat.  Increasing the variety  of different plant types in your diet plays a key role in the diversity of your gut microbiome (the number of different types of bacteria living there).

A hit of Chocolate

Finally, what better way to complete your Easter feast than with a hit of chocolate. Our Chocolate Mousse is light and velvety and a perfect way to end the meal.
